What It Is

Kristin Boyer Buttimer 07 16 22906-Edit

Mindfulness Training is an ancient Eastern practice that reminds us to bring our attention to “the present moment”. Mindfulness practice shows us that peace and happiness are available to us in this moment. It reminds us of our inherent capacity for healing and renewal that we often lose sight of in our busy lives.
It can also be described as moving from habitual reactionary patterns (unskillful) to skillful responses.

Learn how to:

  • Slow down and nurture calmness and self-acceptance
  • Cope more effectively with stress
  • Reduce chronic pain
  • Watch your thoughts and let go of them without being so caught up and driven by them
  • Make room for new ways of seeing old problems
  • Make friends with yourself, all of who you are
  • Experience the field of pure silence and pure awareness

How It Is Learned

Mindfulness is a skill that is learned in a variety of ways, including formal practices of sitting meditation, body scan meditation and mindful yoga. These strategies encourage the practitioner to be in the present moment. This allows you to feel more centered, more grounded, and less stressed. Informal practices include learning mindfulness principles are taught as a way to move through the world with more ease, grace, personal power, and happiness.
